REROOT was founded by veteran, Jon Collins who served in Afghanistan from 2006–2009. Returning from service feeling disconnected to the world, he found healing in his yoga practice and community. He gained his training in trauma-informed yoga (TIY) where the combination of movement and breath helps practitioners learn how to control and manage what the mind and body are going through.
REROOT's program offers a safe space for fellow veterans and first responders to feel empowered and reconnected through their practice. Jon's personal experience and deep understanding of trauma informs his teaching style.
The word 'Yoga' is derived from the Sanskrit word for “yoke” -- to join or connect things together. The three circles coming together in the logo is designed to embody this union of body, mind and spirit.
